The garden in 2011
- A total of £1,238.00 was collected for Help for Heroes. The garden put on the best ever show despite the early freezing winter. The best display, with most varieties and cultivars in full or partial bloom, was the last week of April and first week in May 2011.
- There is still no sign of ‘Pictons Variety’ or ‘Hidcote Purple’. If you know of a reliable source, please contact me.
- There was an article about the garden, Brighten your Garden with Floral Curtains, by Mary Toomey, in the RHS magazine The Garden, pp168-173 in March 2011.
- Hampshire Gardens Trust visited the garden and featured it in their Issue Four Autumn/Winter 2011 magazine p.36 – You should have been there.
- The English Garden focused on the montana group with an article by Matt Biggs, Plan a Montana, pp.89-92, April 2012 issue.
- On 09.10.11, twelve friends from Plant Heritage came and dug holes and planted seven mature montanas in the garden (I was unable to garden for four months because of Plantar Fasciitis). I am hoping that at least some of these will give a display in 2012.
